OpenLogi

Settings and updates

Configure OpenLogi application preferences, permissions, assets, network access, and updates in the Settings window.

The Settings window holds application-wide preferences. It opens on General. Every stored preference in this page belongs to [app_settings] in config.toml; action buttons do not write a setting. See the configuration reference for the complete file.

Open the window

Choose Settings… from the application menu. The macOS menu-bar agent also opens this window from Settings…. The Settings sidebar has General, Updates, Permissions where supported, Appearance, Assets, and About. macOS adds Diagnostics.

General

General selects the application used for mouse profiles, scrolling behavior, startup, notification indicators, and the visible agent icon.

Lock key notificationsShows an on-screen lock-key state. macOS shows Caps Lock only. Windows and Linux can also show Num Lock and Scroll Lock.lock_key_notificationsmacOS, Windows, Linux

capture_mouse_events exists in the configuration. The current General page has no control for it. When it is false, the agent does not install its OS mouse hook, so button remapping stops while HID++ features such as DPI and SmartShift remain available.

Appearance

Appearance changes the interface language and presentation. Changes to mode, theme, radius, and scale apply in the running app.

The language picker ships these locale codes: be, cs, da, de, en, es, fr, it, nl, nb, pl, pt-PT, pt-BR, fi, sv, tr, el, ru, uk, ja, zh-CN, zh-HK, zh-TW, and ko.

Updates

Updates displays the running version, its update status, and the detected installation source. Update checks are off by default. The first-run Check for updates? dialog records either answer in update_prompt_seen. Choosing Enable also runs one check immediately.

ControlWhat it doesConfig keyPlatforms

A macOS release bundle that embeds Sparkle uses Sparkle. Sparkle checks its appcast and installs on quit. This is the macOS update path added in v0.8.14. Windows uses the built-in updater with MSI release artifacts. The same built-in updater is also the fallback for Linux, unbundled builds, and macOS bundles without working Sparkle.

The updater detects Homebrew, DEB, RPM, Arch, Nix, and Windows installation sources for display. It does not select a package-manager-specific updater from that detection. For a Homebrew or Linux package installation, use the installation owner's update path. A release Flatpak is a one-time bundle with no remote, so flatpak update cannot find a newer release; install a newer .flatpak bundle instead.

Assets

Assets manages device-image mirrors and the per-user image cache. Automatic device-image download is enabled by default.

ControlWhat it doesConfig keyPlatforms
Asset sourceSelects Automatic (recommended), OpenLogi, Cloudflare, or Fastly. Automatic races the built-in mirrors and uses the first healthy one. OPENLOGI_ASSETS overrides this choice.asset_sourcemacOS, Windows, Linux
Automatically download device imagesDownloads images for connected devices from the selected source. Turning it back on refreshes immediately.auto_download_assetsmacOS, Windows, Linux

Clear cacheDeletes the per-user cache, then re-fetches the current devices. No config keymacOS, Windows, Linux

The cache root is OpenLogi's data directory plus assets. If no home directory resolves, it falls back to ./assets.

Permissions appears on macOS and Linux. Windows does not show a Permissions page.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics appears on macOS. Input interception reports known applications that gate the mouse event stream. Such interception can cause pointer lag or duplicated button actions.

Network access

OpenLogi has no continuous update poller. The update label states that update checks are the only optional outbound request, but the asset code also makes configurable asset requests. The following is the precise behavior of the current release.

Network requestWhen OpenLogi makes itDefault
Update manifest or Sparkle appcast checkOnce per launch only when Check for updates is enabled, or when you choose Check for Updates.Off
Update artifact downloadAfter you choose Download & Install, or after an enabled automatic check finds an update and Automatically download and install is enabled.Off
Asset index and device-image downloadsFor automatic sync only when automatic device images are enabled and the build permits automatic sync. Release builds with no populated app bundle and debug builds permit it. OPENLOGI_SYNC can force it on or off.auto_download_assets is on
Asset index and device-image downloadsWhen you enable automatic device images, change the asset source while automatic images are enabled, choose Refresh assets, or choose Clear cache. Manual refresh and clear bypass the automatic-download and bundle gates.User action

The assets request fetches an asset index first. It then fetches only the files for connected device models that are absent or stale. Selecting an asset mirror pins that source, unless OPENLOGI_ASSETS overrides it.

The background agent owns these menus. The GUI can be closed while the agent continues to run.
