OpenLogi

Clicks

Filter switch bounce from a worn mouse button that turns one click into two.

A worn mouse switch can bounce. One physical click then reaches the computer as two clicks, so a single click opens a file or closes a window. Ignore switch bounce filters that bounce for one mouse. It is off by default.

Turn it on

Select a mouse and open Pointer. In the Clicks card, turn on Ignore switch bounce. Then pick a Window of 15 ms, 30 ms, or 60 ms. The default is 30 ms.

OpenLogi ignores a press that arrives sooner than the window after the same button's release. It also ignores the release of that press, so the computer sees one click. Each button has its own window, so a left click right after a right click is not affected. A longer window catches more bounce, but it can also swallow a very fast double-click. Pick the shortest window that stops the extra clicks.

Limits

  • The filter never delays a click. It never drops the release of a press it let through, so a button cannot stay down. For that reason, a bounce in the middle of a drag still ends the drag.
  • The filter runs in the OpenLogi input hook. It needs input-hook access and capture_mouse_events = true. On macOS, the hook needs Accessibility access.
  • A button that OpenLogi diverts through HID++ does not reach the hook, so the filter does not apply to it.
  • OpenLogi tells devices apart only by their vendor and product ids. On macOS, all mice on one receiver use the receiver's ids. On every platform, two mice of the same model use the same ids. If another mouse uses the same ids and has the filter off, OpenLogi does not filter those ids, so that mouse never loses a click. Your mouse is then not filtered either. Keyboards do not count. If all of those mice have the filter on, they use the longest window set among them.
  • Windows does not offer the setting. Its input hook cannot tell which device sent a click, so the filter would also reach the touchpad and other mice.

In the config

[devices."unit:6be9d300"]
click_debounce_ms = 30  # 10–100; omit it to turn the filter off

OpenLogi does not load a configuration whose click_debounce_ms is outside 10 through 100. See Configuration for the full reference.

Status: macOS and Linux.
