OpenLogi

Easy-Switch

Inspect, rename, and coordinate the paired computers on a compatible Logitech device’s Easy-Switch channels.

Easy-Switch devices store paired computers in numbered channels. Select the device, then open its Device tab. The Easy-Switch card reads the device’s HID++ 0x1815 host information.

OpenLogi v0.8.14 added this card. It appears only when the device reports Easy-Switch channels.

Channel details

Each row represents one channel reported by the device. It identifies the channel, and the current channel adds This computer.

Channel stateCard contents
Current channelThis computer, plus the paired-computer details when available
Paired channelComputer name, or Unnamed computer; operating system; and connection
Unpaired channelNo computer paired

The connection can be Bluetooth, Unifying receiver, Bolt receiver, or USB. The device supplies the name, operating system, connection, and channel state.

Rename a paired computer

The card shows Rename only for a paired channel when the device permits software renaming. The dialog pre-fills a reported name and shows the Computer name field.

OpenLogi trims surrounding whitespace. A name cannot be empty. Its UTF-8 byte length must not exceed that channel’s name_max_len.

The limit counts bytes, not characters. The device stores an accepted name. A device that does not permit software renaming has no Rename control.

The card can show these messages:

SituationMessage
Empty nameEnter a name.
Name exceeds the byte limitToo long: %{used} of %{max} bytes.
The device does not return the requested nameThe device didn't keep the new name for channel %{channel}.
Another rename failureCouldn't rename the computer on channel %{channel}. Try again.

OpenLogi never writes this computer’s name or operating system to a channel on its own. This differs from Logi Options+, which writes those values to the current channel.

Use the Automation API

Use openlogi api easy-switch to read or rename channels:

openlogi api easy-switch --device "$DEVICE_ID"
openlogi api easy-switch --device "$DEVICE_ID" --channel 2 --name "Work laptop"

Both commands need a running, protocol-compatible OpenLogi agent. The read returns channels numbered from 1, the current channel when reported, the name, operating system, connection, and name_max_len.

A rename needs both --channel and --name. The CLI trims surrounding whitespace, never writes config.toml, and rejects --save.

Make targets follow a keyboard

Set host_switch_targets in config.toml. OpenLogi v0.8.15 has no GUI editor for this relationship.

Place physical device keys in the keyboard’s entry. Configure every computer where that keyboard can initiate a switch.

schema_version = 9

[devices."receiver:aabbccdd:slot:2"]
host_switch_targets = ["receiver:aabbccdd:slot:1"]

When the configured keyboard is online, the agent observes its available host controls. After a host-key press, it validates the keyboard’s requested channel, attempts targets in list order, and switches the keyboard last.

A target that is unavailable or cannot change hosts does not stop the keyboard switch. Every device that must move needs 0x1814 changeHost. When available, the agent uses 0x1815 hostsInfo to reject a channel it explicitly reports as empty.

Status: Available on macOS, Linux, and Windows for compatible HID++ devices. Channel reading and renaming use 0x1815 hostsInfo. Host switching uses 0x1814 changeHost.
