The keyboardLayout feature reports and configures the physical keyboard layout (also called the locale or regional variant) a device is set to use — for example, distinguishing between QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, and other regional arrangements. It applies to Logitech wireless and wired keyboards that ship in multiple regional variants. The declared layout can inform host software about which key-cap legends are physically present, which is relevant when remapping keys or displaying on-screen overlays. What it does

• Provides a way to query the current keyboard layout stored in the device — typically expressed as a locale or region code identifying the physical key arrangement.
• May provide a way to set or override the layout reported by the device, useful when the firmware default does not match the key caps actually fitted.
• The layout identity is most useful to host software for key-remapping UIs and legend rendering; it does not alter which HID scan codes the device generates on its own.
• Complements 0x4521 disableKeys and 0x4522 disableKeysByUsage, which act on individual keys, while this feature concerns the layout as a whole.
• For per-host layout preferences across a multi-host device, prefer 0x4540 keyboardInternationalLayouts.
